Lizzie Borden Took an Axe

Or did she? We’ll examine the case in a tasteful dramatization of the events on the anniversary of the crime, August 4. The Pear Essential Players will perform eight shows at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast Museum in Fall River, Massachusetts. As an honorary member, I will play Alice Russell, Lizzie’s friend, while my husband portrays Dr. Dolan, the medical examiner.

Having been an extra in a Miramax film and a zombie in a local film, acting in front of a live audience is daunting. I’m still looking forward to it, and can’t wait to meet up with fellow cast members we have met from previous years staying at the bed and breakfast. They are lovely people, and we enjoy their company.

If you happen to be in the area on August 4, be sure to check us out.   You can tell them Alice sent you.

  1. I wish I were in Massachusetts to see this show. I love live drama. And you’re correct. There are no retakes in live theatre. How wonderful to learn that you and your husband are thespians, too. I’ll be following your process through your blog. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to “follow” a wordpress blog, but I’ve connected in other social media. Break a leg, Loretta! ~Victoria Marie Lees

  2. Victoria-My husband is a history teacher and is really into this. I was going to stay home and sit this out, but the group encouraged me to participate. I’m nervous but looking forward to it.

Marie-We love the scary stuff, too. We are thinking of running a voice recorder all night at Lizzie’s.

Dawn-Thanks, I will blog more about it.

  3. Good, but do me a favor first!! Say a prayer before entering the building that God protect you from all evil and when you leave the house pray again, but add that all spirits must stay put and not follow you home. Just a safe precaution that you should do when entering any building where a death occurred . Have fun.
